Toomey Racing USA Company Background

      Toomey Racing USA was founded by Stuart Toomey in Harbor City, California, in 1974 as a high-end consulting, research, development and fabrication shop producing specially designed high performance exhaust systems and other racing parts, only for professional racing teams.

      These designs enjoyed great success at the national level, naturally creating even more demand. In fact, in 1979, the year that the Toomey Racing Team won the Daytona 200, 11 of the top 12 teams at Daytona were Toomey equipped (the one guy who wasn't was the Yamaha factory machine, a DNF). In the spring of 1979, the company created a production shop to help meet this rising demand. This production shop has since become the mainstay of the company.

     The consulting side of the business had also grown so much by 1981, that even the Japanese Factory Teams (Honda and Yamaha) sought the services of Toomey Racing. In January of 1982, Stuart Toomey signed an exclusive contract with Honda Motor Company, Ltd. (Japan) to provide technical services to their new World Championship Grand Prix Team, that would include future multiple World Champion, Freddie Spencer. Stuart was one of only two technicians chosen to work with Freddie, under the direction of the world renown engine tuner, Erv Kanemoto, who today, heads up his own Factory Supported, Kanemoto Racing Team

     Stuart Toomey started his racing career in 1973 as a race technician for some of the hottest southern California racers of the '70's like Harry Klinzmann who was A.F.M. Champion for many years. The frequent victories coming from this exclusive "skunk works" type of shop gained Stuart quite a bit of notoriety as well. By 1976, professionals from all over the country sought the services of Toomey Racing USA. Among those are;

     Among other titles, Toomey Racing was the only private team in AMA history to ever win the world's richest and most prestigious race, the Daytona 200 in 1979.

     MacLean Racing, (a Honda Factory sponsored, Toomey Racing exclusive contractor) was also crowned the "Winningest Team in AMA History" in 1985 with its two man team of Richard Schlachter and Wayne Rainey. (Now 3 time World Champion)

      This winning experience carries over, and shows well in the entire product line that Toomey Racing produces today.      This philosophy has worked extremely well for us for all these years as we continue to enjoy our hard earned reputation of having virtually NO dissatisfied customers. It is our goal for our customers to be at least 20% more pleased than they thought they would be, upon seeing and using the products. The real rewards are when the customers call back just to tell us how pleased they are with the product, which happens regularly.

     The formula? Attention to detail in all departments is the standard. Total Quality Management (TQM) is incorporated into every process whether it be manufacturing or customer service.       Toomey Racing USA currently makes a line of aftermarket products and exhaust systems exclusively for the Yamaha "Banshee" off-road machine, with several other product lines in development.

      Toomey Racing currently employs twenty-two craftsmen and women.

      Stuart retired from active participation in professional racing in 1989 to concentrate his abilities on the company and some new endeavors.

      Stuart's main duties today are the day to day running of the finances, the business and new product development. We enjoy a 30% annual growth rate.

      Toomey Racing USA is located in the countryside outside Paso Robles, California, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, near the Pacific Coast.
